My nurse was a friend and a professional
My nurse greeted me daily with a boisterous, cheerful, "Hello!" and an enormous, heartfelt bear hug. She was always ready to assist me in whatever way she could, and as I was in a non-weight-bearing cast, my needs were many. The fact that she had a solid nursing background put me at ease instantly. I never doubted her judgement as she helped me navigate through those difficult days.
There was nothing that she wouldn't do to help me. She picked up groceries and prescriptions; washed, dried, and neatly folded laundry; prepared lunches; drove me to and from doctor and physical therapy appointments; and most importantly, shared great conversations with me. She became a trusted companion who helped to fill those long days of confinement with laughter. She knew exactly how to strike a total balance between being a caring friend and a consummate professional.
Without doubt, I highly recommend the team at Xcel Care.
I had misgivings. That is until she arrived.
I was apprehensive when I thought about someone living with us and attending to my daily care. I lived alone for more than ninety years, and after that, I moved in with my daughters, and they cared for me. Now that I am one hundred and require more help than they can give me, I agreed to try having a caregiver, but I had misgivings. That is until she arrived.
As she is getting me ready for bed every night, I thank her sincerely for her wonderful care, because her calm, capable presence makes me feel safe and cherished. I also thank God for sending her my way.
Nothing is more gratifying than hearing our mother and her caregiver talking and laughing as they share stories, activities, and work through the daily challenges of life.
Care for our mother was provided primarily by family with only outside hourly help. The decision to shift our mother's care from family to full time live-in help was one we contemplated for a long time. It was a journey we approached with considerable reservation. Fortunately, our first step was a conversation with Xcel Care. They reassured us that the people working for Xcel Care were kind and sensitive and the transition to full-time care would be easy. They were right!
The woman sent to us understood our concerns. She worked hard and swiftly to do things just as they had always been done; maintaining established routines and learning our mother's preferences. Within hours we were feeling at ease. Within days, we were totally confident that we had made the right decision. Our mother's needs are thoroughly and consistently met and with a caring and pleasant attitude making it easy for her to accept help while maintaining dignity.
At nearly 100 years old, our mother is lively, animated and can hold a good conversation. Nothing is more gratifying than hearing our mother and her caregiver talking and laughing as they share stories, activities, and work through the daily challenges of life. We will always be grateful to Xcel Care for proving care we thought only our family could provide.
Her presence in our family has been a gift.
The caregiver you have provided for my mother has granted us not only great peace of mind, but she has enlivened our house with fun and good humor. She is so capable and kind that I leave the house with the complete confidence that she will handle whatever comes up in the course of a day. She prepares food for my mother, keeps everything neat and tidy, reads and sings with my mother, and makes our house warm and welcoming for my return in the evening and for our guests when we have company.
She has become a member of our family. When occasionally she has to leave for some time off, we would sink into despair except for the fact that you have always provided someone to step in promptly and efficiently. We would be absolutely lost without our caregiver; her presence in our family has been a gift.
We happily recommend any family who is looking to keep their loved one at home to contact Xcel Care!
